The Somali National Army backed by local clan forces killed 40 Al-Shabab terrorists in an operations carried out in Middle and Lower Shabelle regions, authorities said on Saturday.
The Somali troops conducted the first operation last night in Geel-Gub in Middle Shabelle region after the army attacked an area where Al-Shabab militants were regrouping.
It is confirmed that those killed during the anti-terrorism operations are among senior leaders belonging to the terrorist group of Al-Shabab.
In another operation that the Somali army carried out in Boos Caduur which is under the administration of Adan Yabal district in Middle Shabelle region.
The government troops killed 2 Al-Shabab fighters in the operation.
Authorities said that the Somali army also attacked Al-Shabab militants in Sabiib and Caanoole in Lower Shabelle region and inflicted heavy casualties as far as the operation is concerned.
