Somali Forces Capture key districts from Al-shabab

Mogadishu– Somali National Army (SNA) forces backed by local clan militia fighters on Tuesday captured districts in Lower Shabelle region, which were al-shabab’s strongholds. The allied troops conducted the operation which was aimed at flushing out the al shabab militant group from the region. The Somali troops took control of Kiliga Mohamed Diirshe, Raas Qaboobe, Jameco, Shanlow, Dhaqxow, Yaaqle, Farbarko, Damiley and other districts that lie in the banks of Shabelle river. Commanders who led the operation told the local media that the troops inflicted heavy casualties on al-shabab soldiers. The new territories that the Somali troops along with clan militia fighters regained previously were under the influence of al-shabab militant group. The operation conducted by the allied forces is part of an ongoing efforts by the Somali government to flush out al shabab remnants from the regions of the country.
