Somali Federal Gov’t repatriates 9 Somali youngsters from Algeria

The Somali Federal Gov’t on Wednesday has repatriated 9 Somali youngsters to the country who were trying to migrate to Europe and were detained in Algeria.

Algeria recently became one of destinations of Somali migrants who make a short stopover in Algeria and later cross to West of Europe.

9 Somali youngsters including 5 males and 4 females said that they encountered many problems while they spent in captivity in jails in Algeria.

They said that they are elated after they have safely returned back to their homeland.

They have expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the Somali Federal Gov’t for its efforts in which they secured their freedom.

Dr. Mohamed Hussein Gaas, the Director of the Diaspora Affairs Department at the Ministry of foreign affairs and int’l cooperation has said that the Somali Federal Gov’t is working hard to find a resolution to the migration issues.

He revealed that there are many Somali youth who are faced with problems in the countries that they have migrated who need the support and plans to repatriate them back to their homeland safely.

For the past couple of months, the number of Somali youth who were trying to migrate has increased with alarming rate particularly in Mogadishu, Garowe and Lasanod.

Many Somali youngsters lost their lives in the sea between Algeria and Spain in the hope that they will have better lives.
