As broadcasted by the Somali gov’t owned media that senior al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab have started to flee from Jilib town in Middle Jubba region which is Al-Shabab’s biggest stronghold.
Al-Shabab militants staying in Jilib were in a state of confusion after the Somali gov’t carried out airstrikes targeting bases and resulted the death of Al-shabab members.
Senior Al-Shabab leaders and their families started to seek a safe haven according to Somalia’s state-run media.
It is believed that large numbers of Al-Shabab leaders as well as hundreds of Al-Shabab fighters were killed in the recent airstrikes carried out by Somalia’s Military Command and targeted Jilib district.
Hundreds of Al-Shabab members were injured in the airstrikes and were in a state of neglect in Jilib as reported by the state-run television.
The Somali Federal Gov’t has urged Al-Shabab militants that the only chance they have is to surrender to the gov’t of Somalia and should take an example of those misguided youth that are faced with state of neglect in Jilib town.
The Somali gov’t once again repeat that Jilib district and areas under Al-Shabab’s control will be a military target and the gov’t will likely carry out airstrikes anytime.
