Puntland forces intercepted two vehicles this morning in the southern part of Galkayo that were reportedly carrying troops belonging to the Federal Government of Somalia.
The troops reportedly arrived from the direction of Galmudug, and reports indicate they were en route to the Xananbuure training camp in the Galgaduud region.
According to available information, the troops lost their way during the journey and subsequently entered the southern part of Galkayo, an area controlled by Puntland forces.
It is reported that each of the two vehicles carried approximately 50 people, bringing the total number to around 100. However, the exact number of troops and their status have not yet been officially confirmed.
Images and videos of the vehicles and the detained individuals have been circulated on social media, showing the vehicles and military personnel.
Puntland has not yet issued an official statement regarding this incident, and the precise reason for the detention of the troops—as well as the measures that will be taken—remains unclear.
Meanwhile, neither the Federal Government of Somalia nor the Galmudug administration has commented on the incident. The detention of these troops comes amidst political and security disputes between Puntland and the Federal Government of Somalia, particularly regarding military matters and activities in the central regions.
