Puntland police force particularly Nugaal province police division in conjunction with Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Nugaal region on Wednesday nabbed a suspect named Sharmarke Hussein Yusuf who is 31 years old. The suspect was born and live in Garowe who faced the accusations that he raped two young girls.
The rape transpired on May 11, 2025 at around 4:00 night. It occurred in Booray village in Garowe town. The two young girls were found in the outskirts of village where they were brutally raped.
Criminal Investigation Department in Nugaal province immediately launched an investigation. The police revealed that Sharmarke was nabbed in a planned operation that transpired in an area nearby Garowe City Hall while onboard on the vehicle the rape was carried out.
The police also seized two vehicles that were in connection of the rape. Mr. Sharmarke is under police custody and is being held in a police station in West of Garowe while further investigations are underway. Puntland authority strongly condemns the sexual violence targeting children in Nugaal province. The authority confirmed that the suspects will be brought before the court of justice.
