Puntlandโ€™s Minister of Security Ibrahim Artan Ismail, Minister of Ports Shakir Mohamed Guled, and Deputy Minister of Information Bilal Mohamud Qabowsade provided details regarding anti-piracy operations aimed at securing the coastline.

The officials, who today welcomed the vessel *SIBU*โ€”recently forcibly rescued from piratesโ€”to Bosaso, stated that Puntland is engaged in a major offensive against piracy, conducting operations both inland and at sea to put an end to the hijacking of people and vessels.

The Puntland Security Minister described pirates as a threat to both Puntland and the international community, noting that the government is prepared to apprehend groups still involved in acts of piracy.

The Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport stated that Puntland would not tolerate anyone being held captive within the waters under its jurisdiction, adding that all vessels previously held off the Puntland coast have been liberated.

He also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the rescue operations and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Officials stated that Puntland aims to ensure its waters are safe for the secure passage of ships and sailors, noting that the government will take action against anyone involved in illegal activities, including piracy, illegal fishing, and arms smuggling.

Meanwhile, Puntlandโ€™s Deputy Minister of Information, Bilal Mohamud Qabowsade, announced that the vessel *Sib 1* and its crewโ€”previously held captive by piratesโ€”are now free.

He commended the Puntland Marine Police Force (PMPF), stating that they successfully executed the operation to rescue the ship and its crew.
