As government reiterates its conviction to having elections held timely

The President H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi has formed a concise advisory committee of his cabinet members to delve into the issue of the elective quota allocations of the legislative seats.

This move follows a long meeting held by the council of cabinet members on Thursday that pondered at length on the issue.

The meeting at the same time reiterated the government’s conviction of seeing to it that the forthcoming general elections for both parliamentary and to civic posts are held in time.

It was recently rescheduled to be held by the December of 2019.

The committee is charged with the task of addressing the issue which is similarly under discussion in the parliament.

The issue of the seat allocations is inevitably an issue that may perhaps be behind the constant extensions of parliamentary tenure to almost an extra decade since an amended clause of the election law was in 2005 re-aligned to specify, address and redistribute or re-allocate parliamentary seats as complaints per geo-political regards, before parliamentary elections are held.

No politician, if any, across the political divide is bold on the clause.

The Head of State H.E. Musa Bihi is thus the first leader since that time bent on trying to address the issue.
