The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced that its security forces have detained a network of five terrorist elements who were planning to sneak into Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, and carry out acts of violence to disrupt the stability of the city. According to NISA, the security forces have seized explosive materials, weapons, and vehicles that the group intended to use for their planned terrorist attacks. In a press release, NISA stated that the terrorist network is affiliated with Al-Shabab and will be handed over to the justice institutions to be tried according to the country’s justice system. However, NISA did not provide any details on when or where the terrorist members were detained. The agency also expressed gratitude to the Somali people for their close cooperation and constant support to the security forces. It urged the public to continue strengthening their cooperation with security agencies and to report any information that may pose a threat to national security or have links to terrorist groups such as Al-Shabab and ISIS. This can be done by calling the hotline numbers provided by the security agencies.
