The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, carried out a planned operation targeting Al-Shabab fighters and senior leaders in the Hiiraan and Mudug regions. This operation resulted in the elimination of 22 Al-Shabab members who were involved in organizing attacks against the security of the Somali people. The first operation took place in the Dumaaye settlement in the Mudug region, targeting an area where Al-Shabab members and senior leaders were regrouping. This raid resulted in the deaths of 15 Al-Shabab members, including leaders such as Hudeyfa Galinle, the right-hand man of the Mudug region representative, Qartaatow, the former head of the Al-Shabab militia in Mudug region, Abdirahman Garweyne, the head of misinformation in Jowle settlement, Dahir, the head of extortion in Dumaaye and Dabagalo, and Abdiweli, the former leader of the Al-Shabab militia in Ba’adweyne. Additionally, a second operation took place in the Mahaas district in the Hiiraan region, targeting a house where Al-Shabab leaders and Mustafe Aato’s security guards, the leader of Al-Shabab fighters in Hiiraan region, were located. During this operation, seven Al-Shabab members were killed, including two senior leaders who were crucial for the group’s finances, Qalif Mumin Sabriya and Osman Abdulle Farah. The vehicles used by these leaders were also destroyed. NISA is accelerating operations aimed at pursuing terrorists and clearing their remnants from their hiding.
