A mother named Ms. Fartun Ahmed Nur yesterday was killed in Elasha Biyaha settlement which lies in between Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital and Afgoye district in Middle Shabelle province. Reports say that the woman and other residents that live in Jabad Geele village in Elasha Biyaha strongly opposed the demolition of their residential houses.
Reports indicate that a bulldozer demolished the corrugated iron sheets makeshift house belonging to the woman and other houses that lie in Jabad Geele village. Reliable sources indicate that local residents expressed their grievances which led that a soldier to open fire and the bullet hit Ms. Fartun Ahmed Nuur, who was among the people who congregated and strongly opposed the demolition of her house.
Mr. Ali Ahmed Nuur who is the sibling of late Ms. Fartun argued that the soldier deliberately shot dead. He told the media after the corpse of her sister was brought to Madina hospital in Mogadishu. He said: “She was attacked while she was in her house. She was deliberately killed.” The family of late Fartun claimed that her house has been illegally destroyed.
They requested that the soldier who was behind the murder must be brought before the court of law. The family members of late Fartun said that her body will remain in the mortuary until justice will be served. Mr. Ali Mohamud Kulow told that the soldier who killed his wife was among the security forces led by Mr. Hassan Madobe who is a member of the authority in Elasha Biyaha district. He and other family members appealed to bring the soldier before the court of law.
It is reported that the soldier who is among the security forces that are operational in the Police Station in Elasha Biyaha. Reports further say that the soldier has not returned to the police station after the incident which indicates that he remains to be a fugitive.
