Somaliaโs Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has leveled serious accusations against opposition politicians, alleging that they are holding meetings regarding Somalia in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In a post on his Facebook page, Fiqi stated that the politicians in question have “no hope for Somalia’s political future” and accused them of pursuing agendas that threaten the nation’s statehood and stability.
The Minister also drew a parallel between these politicians and the RSF group currently fighting the Sudanese government, noting that meetings for both parties were held in the same location and accusing the politicians of learning there “how to execute the work of those who employ them.”
Fiqi warned that these politicians might return to Somalia harboring plans he described as “plots against statehood and peace,” cautioning that they could attempt to mobilize militias and revive the era of warlords. Finally, the minister stated that the Somali government is duty-bound to take firm action against anyone who poses a threat to the country’s peace, governance, nationhood, and sovereignty.
He also used the term “traitor,” stating that anyone labeled as such would “face the consequences.”
