A high level military delegation led by Italy’s Army Chief General Luciano Portolano arrived in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital.
The Italian military delegation was greeted upon arrival at Adden Adde Airport by the Deputy Army Chief of Somalia, General Maadey Nuur Sheikh and other officers.
The two sides discussed the bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Italy.
First of all, General Luciano Portolano lauded the achievements of the Somali National Army (SNA) in the fight against extremist groups like Al-Shabab and ISIS which is aimed to ensure the Somalia’s national security.
The Italian Army Chief said that the Italian Gov’t is ready to assist the Somali Army in terms of trainings and exchange of war experience.
Somalia’s Deputy Army Chief General Maadey Nuur Sheikh expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the Italian military delegation for visiting Mogadishu.
He also thanked the delegation for supporting the Somali National Army (SNA).
Finally, General Luciano Portolano and his military delegation are expected to stay in Mogadishu and will hold high level meetings with the Somali gov’t officials and military officials.
