The local defense forces known as Ma’awisley forces on Thursday carried out an operation in Guulane settlement in Middle Shabelle province.
They killed two senior Al-Shabab leaders along with their security guards. The names of Al-Shabab leaders killed are Ali Abukar Mohamed Saaqle who was known as Ali Habad and Mohamed Adow Isse.
Their bodyguards were also killed with them in the operation. The Commander of Ma’awisley local defense forces particularly those stationed in Guulane settlement, Ahmed Dhagey Hurshow who spoke to the state media said that the operation was meticulously carried out as planned.
He said: “These two Al-Shabab leaders played a huge role in directing attacks carried out by the group in Middle Shabelle province. We have brought their atrocities to an end today in which we killed them in a holy operation.”
He pointed out that they will continue to conduct such operations in which they target Al-Shabab members who are stationed in the settlements in Middle Shabelle province until they flush them out from the province.
