Ma’awisley forces who are based in Mabaah settlement which is under Moqokori district in Hiiraan region yesterday launched a planned operation against Al-Shabab militants who were regrouping in an area nearby Adan Yabaal district in Middle Shabelle province.
Ma’awisley forces and Al-Shabab fighters engaged in a fierce fighting.
Reports say that heavy casualties were inflicted on Al-Shabab fighters.
Officers leading the operation told that the operation was successfully conducted whereby many Al-Shabab fighters were killed in the assault.
They further said that they also prevented the horrific atrocities that the militant group of AL-Shabab were planning to commit against the Somali populace.
They further disclosed that the assessment of the casualties inflicted on Al-Shabab fighters are underway pertaining to the operation that occurred in between Mabaax settlement and Adan Yabaal district.
They added that many Al-Shabab corpses are scattered where the fighting took place.
The settlement where Ma’awisley forces conducted the attack is 6 to 10 km from Adan Yabaal district.
Ma’awisley force are currently carrying out operations in villages that are under Adan Yabaal administration, and are pursuing Al-Shabab remnants.
