The Jubaland Dervish Forces, operating in the Afmadow district, recently carried out a planned operation targeting settlements north of Afmadow. The operation was successful in capturing a member of Al-Shabab who was hiding in the huad area. This operation was prompted by reports of Al-Shabab members moving through rural areas in Afmadow. The troops began pursuing these members early on Friday morning. The officers leading the operation stated that the troops conducted thorough searches to ensure the security of all targeted areas and to deter any potential security threats posed by the group. During the operation, the Jubaland troops successfully apprehended Ali Ma’alin Ali Nur, a known Al-Shabab member who went by the name Musamil. Nur had been a member of Al-Shabab for four years. Officials have stated that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the security of Afmadow and its surrounding areas, while also actively fighting against groups that pose security threats.
