Jubaland regional President, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Islam known as Ahmed Madobe, held high level discussions with the Commander of Special Operations U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), Major General Claude K. Tudor Jr. and other AFRICOM senior officials.
The in-depth discussions between the two sides centered on ways to further strengthen the security partnership and to accelerate the ongoing operations against Al-Shabab.
The two sides held further talks focusing on ways to bolster the ongoing efforts which are aimed at liberating areas where the militant group of Al-Shabab is still controlling.
In a statement issued by Jubaland Presidency, it explicitly stated that the meeting focused on strengthening the security partnership between the two sides pertaining to the fight in what the government has described as terrorism, while they discussed ways to enhance the security cooperation as well as the ongoing operations against extremist groups.
President Ahmed Madobe was accompanied by the Director of Security and Intelligence Agency-Jubaland, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Sabriye while AFRICOM was led by Major General Claude K. Tudor Jr. and other officers from the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).
For the past days, operations against Al-Shabab in Jubaland territories have intensified while Somalia’s National Army in close collaboration with Jubaland Security forces have reached areas close to Jilib- Al-Shabab’s major stronghold.
