KISMAYO—The Speaker of the Jubbaland House of Representatives and Acting President of Jubbaland, Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman, received a high-level delegation from Sweden and UNICEF at the Jubbaland Presidential Palace.
The delegation was led by the Swedish Ambassador to Somalia and included senior officials from UNICEF, headed by the UNICEF Representative for Somalia. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Health; Environment and Climate Change; and Women, Labor, and Social Affairs, as well as the Deputy Minister of Planning, the Head of the Refugee and IDP Agency, and the Director General of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
The parties focused the meeting on issues of priority for the people of Jubbaland, particularly the strengthening and advancement of projects related to humanitarian aid, health, education, human rights protection, and support for vulnerable communities.
Additionally, discussions were held on accelerating essential public services, with the parties exchanging views on community needs and ways to strengthen cooperation between Jubbaland institutions and international partners. The meeting also addressed how to deliver effective and sustainable services to the community, particularly to vulnerable populations and those affected by humanitarian crises and climate change. Jubaland places special importance on its partnership with international organizations, especially regarding efforts to improve basic services and address the community’s needs.
