Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar wrote on X following his visit to Somaliland, “It was a great honor to undertake the first official state visit to Somaliland at the invitation of President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi. This visit sends a clear message; we are determined to advance relations between Israel and Somaliland with momentum and purpose.
Today, we held substantial discussions with the President and senior government officials, covering the full scope of relations between our two sides. Mutual recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries are not directed against anyone; our shared objective is to promote the well-being of both peoples and nations.
In Hargeisa, I made it clear that Israel alone will decide whom it recognizes and with whom it maintains state relations. President Abdirahman also informed me that he has accepted Prime Minister Netanyahu’s invitation and will travel to Israel for an official visit.”
