Mogadishu--International airlines have expressed concern and warned that they may suspend flights due to security fears at Aden Adde International Airport and its surroundings. Sources say that Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Ethiopian Airlines have directly contacted the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and expressed growing concerns about the safety of the airport. These airlines are greatly concerned about continuing direct flights to Mogadishu due to the security situation at the airport and its surroundings. They have submitted a report to the top Somali Civil Aviation Authority regarding the security fears they are facing. However, the SCAA has not taken strong measures to address the concerns raised by the airlines. The messages sent by the airlines to the Civil Aviation Authority confirm that they cannot continue flights unless measures are put in place to resolve the security fears, as it poses a threat to the safety of passengers, crew, and airline assets. If international flights stop or suspend their direct flights, it will have a significant impact on trade and the credibility of the Somali Aviation Authority. So far, the SCAA has not addressed the concerns expressed by the airlines, nor has it issued an official statement on the matter.
