Reports from the Qansahdhere district in the Bay region indicate that intense clashes have erupted both inside and on the outskirts of the town. These clashes are between troops loyal to the opposition group known as the Southwest State Liberation and forces loyal to the Southwest State authority led by President Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed Laftagaren. According to locals, the fighting lasted for several hours and the sound of heavy and light weapons could be heard repeatedly. Sources from the town have reported casualties, including deaths and injuries, on both sides, although the exact number is still unknown. Initial reports suggest that the opposition forces have taken control of the town, but there has been no official statement released by either the Southwest State authority or the opposition groups. The situation remains tense and civilians fear that the fighting may resume. As a result, trade in the town has come to a standstill and some locals have begun to flee from the villages where the clashes occurred. In recent days, there have been military movements in the Bay region, led by opposition groups who are attempting to challenge the leadership of the Southwest State authority.
