According to local residents and farming communities on Saturday have confirmed that they have seen heavily armed Al-shabab militants in the rural areas surrounding Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest State.
Reports indicate that residents living in villages of Gasarta, Dambalka and settlements nearby Baay-Burjeet- that Al-shabab militant group sent a stern warning to local farmers and informed them to stay away from certain areas.
Eye-witnesses said that Al-Shabab insurgents have clearly informed the farmers that they cannot visit or come to work their farms.
This has triggered anxiety on security and the risk that farmers in Baay region are confronted with.
This has come after Southwest State authority and residents in Baidoa celebrated after Somali National Army (SNA) and Dervish forces inflicted heavy casualties on Al-Shabab militants on Thursday in a fighting that occurred in Daynuunay settlement.
The reason why heavily armed Al-shabab militants reinforced their presence in rural areas in Baidoa is to retaliate against the heavy casualties that the militant group were inflicted in the fighting that took place in Daynuunay whereby Southwest state claimed that its troops reached a big victory and displayed Al-Shabab corpses.
