Havoyoco Helps Somaliland’s Health Ministry with Covid-19 Prevention Kits

Somaliland’s Non-Governmental Organizations are playing a crucial role the state’s fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

The Horn of Africa Voluntary Youth Committee “Havoyoco” in partnership with Oxfam is assisting the ministry of health with materials and public awareness efforts.

On Wednesday, Havoyoco supplied the ministry of health with disinfectants, spraying bombs and hand washing equipment.

Mr. Abdilahi Hassan, Havoyoco country director, in a speech at the handing over ceremony underscored the organization’s commitment to help the government curb against Covid-19.

He said the ministry of health has requested spraying bombs which Havoyoco supplied.

On the other hand, he called on the public to promote the over all hygiene to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

Abdilahi said, “We are here today yo officially deliver to the ministry of health with the request of the ministry. The equipment will greatly help the fight against CoronaVirus disease. It consists of alcohol, which is as we all know the best agent used to kill germs. So we hand over the ministry two hundred and ten liters of alcohol. The ministry also requested to supply them with spray bombs of which we are delivered.

The deputy health minister, Dr. Mahdi Osman thanked Havoyoco for the donations and its invaluable contributions to the prevention and the control of Covid-19.

He added that Havoyoco is a reliable partner to the health ministry.

Besides the donation of materials, Havoyoco is helping the government in the public awareness front.

Leveraging its past experience on public awareness campaigns, Havoyoco is working with government of Somaliland promoting the awareness of local communities through training public health officials, vehicles through awareness drives in the market areas.
