Somaliland gov’t has reserved one of the wards at Hargeisa Group Hospital to handle and treat coronavirus cases.

The gov’t has halted pateints to be treated in one of the wards and has been earmarked for COVID-19 patients if the deadly COVID-19 pandemic spreads in Somaliland.

An officer among the management at Hargeisa Public Hospital has told that the hospital authority has stopped allowing patients to be treated from other diseases in this ward.

He said this is part of the gov’t measures aimed at preventing the deadly coronavirus in Somaliland.

The move comes a day after the health Somaliland minister, Omar Ali Abdilahi, had confirmed the first two cases of the COVID-19 patients in Somaliland late on last Tuesday after weeks of increasing skepticism over the state’s claims to be free from the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic.

Somaliland announced that a Chinese national living in Berbera and Somali citizen in Burao tested positive for the COVID-19.

Health authorities are on high alert across the country.
