The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, recently conducted an inspection visit and met with troops stationed in Gandarshe settlement in the Lower Shabelle region. He was accompanied by the Commander of the 1st Division of Gorgor Commandos, Mr. Saahid Jareere. The purpose of the visit was to boost the morale of the SNA troops operating in the region. During his stay in Gandarshe, General Sahal commended the troops for their bravery and acknowledged their sacrifices in deterring AL-Shabab attacks. He also highlighted the progress made by the national army in the region. The Lower Shabelle region is currently the site of ongoing operations against Al-Shabab, and the SNA has achieved significant successes in the operation known as “Badar,” which was launched during the holy month of Ramadan. These operations have resulted in the liberation of large areas from Al-Shabab control.
