Gov’t Ministers to travel to frontlines to boost moral of Somali Troops

Certain cabinet ministers of Somalia’s Federal Gov’t are embarking on a visit to the frontlines in order to boost the moral of Somali National Army (SNA), and local clan forces known as Ma’awisley who are engaged in an ongoing battle against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab. The ministers who have left Mogadishu are carrying out an order from the Somali Prime Minister saying that the gov’t will relocate to the frontlines in order to play a crucial role pertaining to ongoing battle against the insurgents.

The ministers are expected to travel to Middle Shabelle region and districts under Galmudug state where anti-terrorism operations to flush out Al-shabab militants are underway. The objective behind the visit is to inspect the troops in the frontlines. They will speak to the troops regarding the fight and will congratulate on the men and women in uniform to continue the fight. The incumbent Somali Prime Minister, Hamze Abdi Barre last week announced that the gov’t will go to the frontlines. The PM made the remarks in an emergency meeting held by the cabinet ministers.

Hamze said that the Somali populace have a last chance in order to eliminate Al-Shabab militants since they are on their last legs. He urged the Somali populace to join hands in order to maintain peace and stability. The incumbent Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is currently spearheading the war against terrorism. He dressed in a military uniform while he crisscrossed three districts in Middle Shabelle province. He travelled to the coastal town of Addale and informed the Somali troops as well as local forces to remain on high alert.

Reinforcements have reached Adan Yabal district and the objective behind the deployment of reinforcements is inject a new blood to the troops stationed there who are engaged a war with Al-Shabab. The offensive which is aimed at flushing out Al-Shabab militants from Middle Shabelle region will resume this week. The plan in place is to drive out Al-Shabab from Middle Shabelle region before Eid-al-fitr.
