Former National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director, Abdilahi Mohamed Sanbalooshe was re-elected on Friday to Somali Federal Parliament’s Lower House Chamber regaining the seat number HOPO58 after he was dismissed from NISA Chief.
The election of the seat number HOPO58 was held in Jowhar, the administrative seat of Hirshabelle. He won the seat after his main rival candidate, Ismail dropped out of the election. Mr. Sanbaloshe was fired from NISA director after held the post for a year and a half.
He had previously vacated the seat after being appointed NISA director. In accordance of the Somali law, which prohibits holding senior executive office concurrently. The election was attended by members of the two Chambers of Parliament, civil society and the delegates that will fill the vacant seat.
101 delegates attended the election. Sanbaloshe garnered 98 votes while three abstained. Mr. Abdi Addow Mohamed, who is a member of the electoral Commission announced the result and presented the certificate to Sanbaloshe.
