Five soldiers from the Puntland Defense Forces were killed and others were injured on Friday morning when an explosion occurred on the road connecting Bosaso, Dhaadaar, and Al-Miskaad Mountains. The explosion specifically targeted a combat vehicle traveling on the road, and it is suspected that ISIS fighters were responsible for the attack. Puntland has recently faced criticism for reducing operations against ISIS in the Al-Miskaad Mountains, which has allowed the group to emerge from their hiding places and carry out attacks on Puntland troops. During a meeting of Puntland ministers yesterday, a report was presented stating that ISIS regularly receives logistical supplies. Reliable security sources have confirmed that the group receives food and livestock from nomads who are working with ISIS. Just three days ago, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) conducted an airstrike on ISIS members who have bases in Togga Baallade and Al-Miskaad Mountains in the Bari region.
