The local defense forces known as Ma’awisley yesterday attacked on Moora Godan settlement which is under the authority of Raage-Elle district in Middle Shabelle province. It is reported that the militant group of Al-Shabab set up a center in which they treat fighters who are wounded in the attacks they carry out in the East of Middle Shabelle province. In the first place, Ma’awisley local defense forces launched the attack against the militant group of Al-Shabab, but later was reinforced by the Somali National Army (SNA).

The Somali National Army (SNA) Radio reported that the troops dismantled the center, and at the same time prevented movements and mobilizations in which Al-Shabab were conducting there.

The SNA Radio also reported that the operation was successfully completed, but did not clearly state who is in control of the settlement. Unconfirmed reports say that allied forces retreated from the settlement after Al-Shabab fighters received reinforcements.

The fighting follows a previous armed clashes that transpired in Jabada Arbeed and Garas Maaha Omar settlements that are under the authority of Raage-Elle district.

The fighting broke out after local defense forces launched a raid and backed by Somali National Army (SNA) in which they thwarted movements that Al-Shabab were conducting in the settlements.

The allied troops are trying to push back the militant from the settlements that are under the authority of Raage-Elle district in order not to foil the plan of the allied forces to retake settlements that Al-shabab captured recently in the East of Middle Shabelle province.
