A high level delegation from the ministry of environment and climate change of Somaliland in collaboration with Action Aid agency recently wrapped up a tour to Kenya. The delegation is headed by the Director of Climate Change and the protection of the environment of Somaliland, Adam Mohamed Hassan. The Somaliland representative to Kenya greeted the delegation upon arrival in Kenya.
The main objective of the meeting that the ministry of environment established strategic cooperation with the University of Nairobi. Somaliland delegation met with the director in charge of the Institute of Climate Change and the professors. The delegation and the Institute of Climate Change agreed on that the Institute will offer Master of PhD programs as well as skills training.
They also agreed to cooperate on environmental research and the climate change. Somaliland delegation embarked on an inspection tour to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) whereby they met with the Deputy Director General.
They exchanged their views on the structure and the executive. They also established a cooperation based on five points which are aimed to build capacity of environmental professionals. The delegation visited Arboretum and National Herbarium in Nairobi and showcased their technical and protect of the plants.
