Daesh terrors’ group last night launched an attack on a military base manned by units of Puntland security forces in Xabley mountain in Ufayn district in Bari region.
At least one soldier was killed while six others including a senior Puntland officer was wounded in the armed clashes.
The attack took place in Dhaban-Qooxle in Xabley mountain according to reports.
Puntland security forces repulsed the attack on the military base and killed several Deash fighters.
The clashes ensued between Puntland security forces and Daesh terrorists continued on early on Tuesday morning.
Deash fighters who are on the run have launched hit and run attacks against Puntland security forces stationed in the Al-Miskaad mountain range in Bari region.
It is believed that Deash remnants are still hiding in the Al-Miskaad mountain range and conduct hit and run attacks against Puntland soldiers.
Daesh fighters detonated a landmine which they placed on a road and targeted an ambulance and combat vehicle which resulted deaths and injuries.
President Saed Deni announced that Deash remnants will be flushed out from Puntland region during the third phase of anti-terrorism operations.
