On Saturday, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ismail, also known as Nageeye, surrendered to the Jubaland Dervish forces stationed in Buulo-Haji settlement. He was a member of the Al-Shabab fighters who were defeated in the heavy fighting on Kudhaa Island in the Lower Jubba region. The man, armed with a PKM, is reported to be one of the few survivors of the military onslaught that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of his fellow fighters, as confirmed by Jubaland media. He stated that they escaped after the defeat and got lost in the dense forest and on the island, where many of them died from thirst, hunger, and exhaustion. Others were forced to surrender. Meanwhile, the Somali National Army-Danab Commandos, in collaboration with Jubaland forces, have intensified military operations against Al-Shabab fighters, specifically in the areas surrounding the coastal town of Kudhaa in the Lower Jubba region. Jubaland has deployed additional troops to intensify the search for Al-Shabab fighters in hiding. Jubaland security forces have also confirmed that US drones are actively participating in the ongoing operations, conducting airstrikes on Al-Shabab hideouts in the Lower Jubba
