A high-level government delegation from the Republic of Somaliland recently held important consultations with traditional elders and community leaders in the eastern Sanaag region to discuss advancing peace, security, and development. The delegation, which included Minister of Investment and Industry Said Sheikh Mohamed Buraale, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Ali Jama Bured, and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Jamal Jama Hamud, focused on strengthening social cohesion, consolidating peace and security, and accelerating development initiatives in Erigavo and the wider Sanaag region. As a result of the meeting, both the ministers and elders agreed to form a small joint committee responsible for coordinating efforts to develop Erigavo and reinforce stability in the area. This gathering highlights the Somaliland government’s ongoing commitment to engaging with traditional leadership to address local priorities and promote inclusive progress in one of the country’s key northern regions.
