On Tuesday, F-16 fighter jets conducted a military rehearsal in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, flying at a low altitude. The Turkish government brought these fighter jets, which are among the most modern manufactured by the US, to Mogadishu. This morning, residents of Mogadishu were able to see the F-16 fighter jets, which were escorted by helicopters previously brought to Mogadishu by Turkey and now operated by the Somalia Air Force. Units of the Somalia Air Force also participated in the military rehearsal, demonstrating their close collaboration with their Turkish counterparts. The security cooperation between Somalia and Turkey has deepened, with Ankara dispatching officers from the Turkish Air Force and ground forces to play a significant role in strengthening military cooperation between the two sides. Turkey has also consolidated its military presence in Somalia, with modernized ships currently in Somali waters providing security for oil exploration. Additionally, Turkey has recently set up a storage facility for repairing equipment for the F-16 fighter jets and has sent technical experts to assist. Turkey also plans to establish a satellite in the north of Mogadishu, further strengthening strategic relations between Somalia and Turkey in the areas of security, energy, and technology, and expanding its presence in Somalia.
