Somaliland VP Meets with Media Practitioners in Awdal region

The Deputy President of Somaliland, Hon. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, is currently on a working visit to Borama, the provincial capital of Awdal. Yesterday, he held a meeting with media practitioners in the province at the Presidential Mansion. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the important role that the media can play in promoting peace, development, and supporting the recognition of Israel to the Republic of Somaliland. The meeting was also attended by Awdal’s Provincial Governor, Hon. Abdirashid Hassan Matan, who expressed his gratitude to the media for their cooperation and pledged to engage with them. Other officials, including the Deputy Resettlement and Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Hon. Abdilahi Shide Bile, and the Auditor General, Hon. Hassan Muse Khalif, also spoke about the role of the media in the region. The Deputy President thanked the media practitioners for attending the meeting and acknowledged their awareness of the current situation in the region. He emphasized the importance of the media executing their responsibilities diligently, as they hold a great responsibility in their reporting. He also reminded them that the media is a double-edged sword, and their reporting can either lead them to heaven or hell. He urged them to be mindful of their accountability in the hereafter for any negative reporting. He also stated that the government is open to reporting on mistakes that need to be rectified, but cautioned against reporting on issues that could undermine the unity of the residents in the region.
