Somaliland: President Bihi receives UN Special Envoy to Somalia

The President of the Republic of Somaliland Musa Bihi Abdi received a delegation led by UN Special Envoy to Somalia, James Swan, at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa today. Among the topics discussed were boosting cooperation on humanitarian projects that the UN agencies implement in Somaliland. Joint press briefing made by the finance minister, Sa’ad Ali Shire and Mr. James Swan underscored that the meeting was successful. The UN Special Envoy lauds Somaliland’s success in the areas of tranquility and economic progress and at the same time thanked the incumbent for according him a warm and cordial reception. Mr. James said that having met with the president and gov ministers, he discussed with ways to further foster dialogue in order to resolve dispute and strengthen peace and stability. The UN special envoy who is on his first official working visit to Somaliland since assuming the office has also lauded the landmark agreement that political parties have reached in an attempt to hold free and fair parliament polls in Somaliland. He added that UN agencies increased its humanitarian efforts on assisting vulnerable communities and refugees. SL deputy president, finance, interior, livestock, and deputy FM were with the president of Somaliland meeting with UN special envoy James Swan.
