The president has blasted the opposition political parties of constantly meddling the preparations of upcoming elections in Somaliland. Mr. Musa Bihi has also sent stern warning of those who are planning to hold tribal conferences in the country. Somaliland local media grilled the president during a media briefing at the presidential palace touching thorny issues that are impacting the country. The President has pointed out to the populace of the progress that his administration made and repudiated allegations from the opposition parties aimed at undermining the national unity and derailing the democratic process in Somaliland. The president spoke that the gov’t was given a duty to coordinate and to create the laws which will allow the holding of elections.
Hon. Musa has asserted clearly that Wadani party has derailed the democratic process from the day that its leader, Hon. Abdirahman Irro made the concession speech after he was defeated in the polls was the real constraint to democratic polls in Somaliland. The incumbent president has accused of Wadani opposition party Hon. Irro of still trying to divide the nation by not truly accepting the defeat. Wadani has adamantly insisted on the dissolving of National Electoral Commission. The Head of State has said that he cannot disband NEC until its term expires.
The President has called on the opposition to refrain from any acts that would divide the nation. He said that both leaders have politicized the recent scholarship that Ethiopia offered to Somaliland students. The president has reiterated that the country has overcome the era of holding tribal meetings.
