Somalia bans guns from popular Liido Beach

Mogadishu–Somalia’s Federal Gov’t yesterday issued new measures which were aimed at tightening security in Mogadishu. The government banned guns and other weapons from the popular Liido beach. This was announced by Somali Police Force Spokesman Major Abdifatah Adan Hassan. He held a press conference informing the public that guns were banned from the beach. The measures were aimed at bolstering security in a  bid to prevent terrorist attacks. Thousands of Mogadishu residents visit Liido beach primarily to relax and enjoy activities including swimming, sunbathing and walking along the shore. Al Shabab militant group carried out number of terrorist attacks targeting popular Liido beach.
