An anticipated meeting between the ruler of the United Arabi Emirates Mohamed bin Zayed and Somali President was delayed after members of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s delegation had tested positive for coronavirus.
Somali news outlets quoted government officials that Mohamud’s two-day visit to UAE had been extended, though an initial COVID-19 test of him came back negative. Somali President is quarantining at a hotel in Abu Dhabi after coming into contact with people who had tested positive for coronavirus.
Authorities in Mogadishu have not given further details about the delay to the meeting between Mohamud and bin Zayed, in which Somali President was expected to ask for financial support towards his government’s development agenda for the next four years.
