Somaliland President Musa Bihi Abdi has held a meeting with the National Election Commission over the forthcoming local and house of national assembly elections in the country which is due to take place on 31st May, 2021.
During the consultative meeting, the two sides assessed the pending duties for the upcoming local council and house of representative polls.
Members of NEC have briefed the president on their preparation as the country approaches election year.
NEC clarified that the last preparations are smoothly taking place and added that it expects to accomplish the unfinished business within a short period of time including the financial budget for the polls.
On his side, President Bihi has lauded the job performance of the National Election Commission and further stressed that NEC must ensure that SL must have free and transparent polls.
NEC confirmed 1.3 million voters have registered to vote in the upcoming elections which is 60 percent increase in contrast to the previous voter registration.
