Troops of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) last night conducted a planned operation in which they targeted Al-Shabab fighters. The operation took place in Buulo-Hoog village in Buq-Aqable settlement in Hiiraan province. An official statement issued by NISA said that seven Al-shabab fighters were killed.

Two vehicles were dismantled. One was carrying weapons while Al-Shabab fighters were on board on the other vehicle. The vehicles left from Shaw settlement and were on their way to Buq-Aqable settlement when the operation was taking place.

According to intelligence officials, information received in advance paved the way to target the group while the troops were closely monitoring their movements. NISA troops swiftly responded to the information and prevented that weapons transported and Al-Shabab fighters to reinforce their presence in new areas. NISA further said that the operation demonstrated how security agencies are operating.

NISA further added that they will share with the Somali populace new videos that the Agency recorded in order to demonstrate the victory that the Somali troops reached and heavy casualties were inflicted on the militant group of Al-Shabab.

The operation in Buulo-Hoog village is one of the operations intended to eliminate the terrorist groups while the Somali Federal Gov’t is exerting efforts in order to strengthen the overall security in Somalia.
