The ongoing efforts to strengthen Somalia’s security infrastructure and combat regional instability received a major boost on Thursday when hundreds of security personnel graduated in a ceremony held in Baidoa.

Hundreds of Somali Security Forces in Baidoa, following six months of specialized training by Ethiopia’s African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) troops.

Their graduation highlights the collaborative efforts between Somalia and Ethiopia in addressing security challenges.

The training, which covered critical areas such as physical fitness, military drills, weapons handling, and counter-terrorism tactics, is a crucial step in building the capacity of Somali forces to tackle threats like terrorism and insurgency.

The presence of high-ranking officials, including Southwest President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen and Somali Second Deputy Prime Minister Abdisalan Abdi Ali, underscores the importance of this initiative for Somalia’s national security and regional stability.

Ethiopia’s unwavering support, as acknowledged by Somali leaders, reflects the broader regional commitment to stabilizing Somalia and fostering peace in the Horn of Africa.
