Hundreds of the local defense forces known as Ma’awisley particularly the nomads reached Mahaas district in Hiiraan region for the past couple of days in order to participate the war with Al-Shabab which is underway in the East of Hiiraan province.

It is understood that those Ma’awisley troops are not registered for the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) who support the Somali troops in their fight with Al-Shabab.

The Somali Military have been providing salaries and wages to thousands of Ma’awisley forces in which they have been previously recruited from settlements in Hirshabelle and Galmudug states although they are not paid on regular basis.

The new Ma’awisley soldiers have the same opinion with those hailing from the East of Hiiraan region who staunchly opposed to surrender to Al-Shabab militants.

Hawadle is the only clan that has been waging was with Al-Shabab for the years in a row.

Ma’awisley forces staunchly object that Al-Shabab will return to Moqokori district three years ago and they deserted from their families in defense of the province.

Regional officials were quoted that these local defense forces are ready to respond to the call made by the leader of Ma’awisley on Thursday, Ali Jeyte Osman, who is the head of the President’s office for affairs of the local defense forces referred as Ma’awisley in which he called Hawadle clan to defend against Al-Shabab or to surrender to them.

Somali Military Officers who are based in Mahaas were reported that they requested from the Somali Military Command and the officials of the ministry of defense who are based in Mogadishu to provide weapons and ammunitions to Ma’awisley forces particularly those that the elders can put their trust on them.

Ali Jeyte on Tuesday returned back to Mahaas district while he has the support of the gov’t officials in order to mobilize robust local defense forces known as Ma’awisley who will participate the onslaught against Al-shabab in Moqokori district.

He was the man who turned eyes on the Somali Federal Gov’t that Ma’awisley forces will assist the Somali National Army (SNA) in order to weaken the military capabilities of the militant group of Al-Shabab.

It is pointed out that Ma’awisley forces are good at fighting with Al-Shabab and the Somali Federal Gov’t commenced to arm the Ma’awisley forces when liberation operations started in the South and Central Somalia particularly in the first phase.
