The Somali Federal Government (SFG) on Thursday appointed a new central bank governor after the ex-central bank governor’s tenure has expired. Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi has been named as the new central bank governor of Somalia and committee from the cabinet ministers tasked with the hand picking of the governor issued the final winner. Mr. Abdirahman, the new central bank governor has wide experience on economy, managment and banking. For the past two years, the new central bank governor has been special economic adviser to Somalia Prime Minister office and hails from Togder province, Somaliland. There were speculations that Somalia is seeking foreigner for the central bank governor and this has brushed aside the circulated rumors in Somalia.
