Local residents living in Raage Ceele district in Middle Shabelle region have mobilized themselves and took up arms to support the Somali National Army. Pictures taken from the youth and the elders have pledged to throw their support behind the ongoing efforts to flush out Alshabab fighters from the region. The local clan militia fighters are expected to be deployed to the frontlines to defend the districts from Al shabab militants.
The new revolution spearheaded by the local clan militia fighters that started in the Middle Shabelle region comes at a time when Alshabab fighters launched an unpresented attacks against Somali National Army who are committed to defend the territory from Alshabab’s attempts to takeover the districts. Somali National Army inflicted heavy casualties following the fighting the group launched to takeover El Ali Ahmed district in Middle Shabelle region. The Somali gov’t said in statement that it killed 130 alshabab fighters during the attack.
