The newly appointed Kenyan Army Chief Lt. Gen. David Kete paid an official visit to Kenyan troops who are stationed in Somalia and who are part of AUSSOM operations in order to assess the ongoing operations and boost the morale of Kenyan defense forces who are battling Al-Shabab militants.
The Kenyan Army Chief was greeted by Brigadier Edward Banda, the Commander of Kenyan troops who are serving with the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) particularly sector two and his deputy Colonel Sam Kenga.
The military delegation headed by Lt. Gen. David Keter paid an inspection visit to the crucial military bases manned by Kenyan troops who are stationed in Dhobley, Afmadow and Kismayo.
During the visit of Gen. David Keter, he reiterated the importance of AUSSOM operations in which a war is engaged with Al-Shababn, the stabilization of liberated areas from Al-Shabab and strengthening the capabilities of the Somali National Army (SNA) in order to take over the responsibility of the security of Somalia.
Commander Banda has pointed out the reception of Kenyan Army Chief has come at the right time and boosted the moral of Kenyan troops stationed in Somalia.
He confirmed that AUSSOM sector two is committed to discharge their duties according to a statement issued by AUSSOM.
