Somalia said on Tuesday that its troops inflicted heavy casualties on Alshabab fighters in a coordinated raids in districts in Hiran and Middle Shabelle region, killing more than 70 alshabab fighters. The ministry of information said in statement that operation involved airstrikes and ground attacks against alshabab hideouts in several districts. The Somali gov’t further said that the Somali national army and the heroes of the allied clan militia fighters defeated Alshabab’s attempts to takeover several districts in South of the country. Somali troops along with state run media reporters went to the districts where the raids took place namely El Ali Ahmed in Middle Shabelle region and Addow-Guray in Hiran region, to see the extent of the damage inflicted on Al shabab fighters. The reporters saw with their naked eyes on the corpses’ of alshabab fighters scattered in the battlefield.. During the operation, combat vehicles were seized while armored vehicles were destroyed. The government further added that all districts where Alshabab launched coordinated attacks are in the hands of gov’t troops.
