Finance and Justice Ministries Urge Public Notaries take part transport transfer taxes collection

A workshop to expedite the transfer tax revenue collaborated by the Ministry of Finance, Justice and Notaries were held in Hargeisa yesterday.

The meeting which was attended by officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice & Public Notaries, was aimed ways of getting the notaries to file payable transfer taxes by their clients.

Deputy Minister of Finance Muse Ibrahim Yusuf stated that the notaries are government agencies representing the government, so they are required to contribute to the filing of the transfer tax.

The Minister of Justice, Hon. Suleiman Warsame Guled, said that the meeting follows previous ones held with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice, and the latest on Notaries is aimed at reviewing the former.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Saad Ali Shire, thanked the participants and said that notaries partially work with the Ministry of Justice & Finance and that everything they do is legal.

“Recognized governments’ budgets are subsidized, they got loans, here we don’t get any, yet all government services are expected from us. So every Shilling of tax you collect, is paid either to a teacher, a doctor or security forces, in towns or borders.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to work together on collecting the transport transfer taxes revenue.
