Addis Ababa, October 25, 2018 – Ethiopian and Eritrean Foreign Ministers Dr Workneh Gebeyehu  and  Osman Saleh, respectively, held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Enzo Moavero Milanesi.

The meeting held yesterday is the second one, in the space of a month, after the one organized in New York alongside the United Nations General Assembly.

Less than two weeks ago, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visited Addis Ababa and Asmara to show Italy’s strong support for the path of full reconciliation between the two African states, which culminated with the recent peace agreement, which is already producing positive effects throughout the region.

The three ministers also hoped that “we could work together for the stabilization of Somalia.”

Recalling the proximity and the Italian friendship towards the two countries, Moavero assured that Italy is ready to accompany its economic growth and sustainable development with a strategy based on a triptych of possible initiatives.

Finally, the Ministers stressed the importance of supporting the lifting of the Eritrean sanction imposed by the United Nations to promote the full reintegration of Eritrea in the international community.
