Auditor-General confirms probe into Hargeisa municipality: Somaliland

The office of auditor general in Somaliland has formally confirmed its probe into the the offices of Hargeisa municipality for graft and widespread corruption practices.

The office locked major offices of the Hargeisa municipality and ordered that they won’t be opened as far as the orders from the office of auditor general is concerned.

The director in charge of the investigation of the auditor general of Somaliland, Hon. Ali Mohamed Ahmed has said that the investigations are not new to Somaliland government institutions.

The State owned television was seen airing footage of the officials from the AG interrogating municipality staffers.

Mr. Ali said that they are discharging their national duties.

It is believed that major municipalities in Somaliland are institutions whereby corruption practices are widespread.
